Seek clarity
If compared with the average person with the high performer.
- The high performer is very clear about what he wants in his life.
- He knows how to reach the goal.
- He knows exactly what type of person he should be.
The author says if you clear someone of his goals, and what exactly he wants. we can improve his performance to an extent level.
If we ask questions to ourself we get more clarity.
- Who am I?
- What is my strength?
- And what is my weakness?
- What do I want to become in my life?
- What kind of feeling I will get after achieving my goal?
- Will I really get the feeling after achieving the goal?
The average person asks very less question to self.
- Suppose, during the new year we keep the new year resolution.
- But a high performer, every day asks the same question to himself.
- If he gets the answer or not.
- He clears in his life, what he wants to become in his life.
- His every action leads him to achieve his goals.
For example:
- In the future, if you want to be a great communicator.
- You should ask yourself every day how you can be a great communicator.
- You should imagine every day that you are talking with people and influencing them.
- When we talk with someone, in reality, we should pretend ourself as a great communicator.
- And we should talk in like that way.
Generate Energy
Among us maximum people when imagining about the high performer, we think that high performer might be very hardworking.
- He wakes up early.
- He complete his works and then sleeps late.
- Actually, this is true.
- And we have questions, about doing this work from where he gets the energy.
- We think we don’t have so much energy in us.
According to Bill Bryson, average person has 7*10^18 ( 7 multiply into 10 to the power 18) Joule of potential energy.
The energy can be compared with 30 hydrogen bombs.
- We should know how to generate energy.
- Brendon Burchard when studied about high performance.
- He found that a high performer CEO had the same amount of energy if compared with a high-performance athlete.
- The high performer does specific things from which they can generate high energy.
Visualization
Research has proven that our brain when visualizing good things.
- It releases Dopamine (Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that plays several important roles in the brain and body).
- When we perform the things in reality every day the same amount of dopamine gives energy.
- High performer used this strategy.
- He visulaliz those things which make him happy.
- Such that all the time he can be in good mood and can give high performance.
Exercise
- High performers knows that exercise is not only good for the body but it increases mind efficiency.
- They knows from exercise BDNA (Brain-derived neurotrophic factor) get release.
- From this, in their hippocampus new neurons are generated.
- Which in term increases the brain efficiency and mood is always good.
That is the reason they can give high performance.
They focus on every transition of their work.
When a high performer shifts from one activity to another activity.
They send commands to the mind, what to do next
The author says in his book:
- If now we are working on household work and now need to work for the office.
- ie Shifting from one task to other tasks.
To get the high performance we can perform 3 step process:
- For 2 min close the eyes.
- Say release, release, release from inside. Imagine that all tension from our shoulder body getting released.
- Imagine that: what activity you want to do, how you will do it, from that activity what result I want.
The author says if we follow these steps we can generate energy for the whole day and be a high performer.
Raise the necessity
High performer always creates necessity and thinks why it is important to perform well.
That is the reason their performance is better than other persons.
One time author asks a question to the Olympic Splinter.
- When you are with a top-level Olympic splinter.
- Who all are of the same capabilities, can you tell who can win among them?
The Olympic splinter said:
1st splinter said:
I want to win the race because I want to win the Gold medal and my family feels proud of me.
2nd splinter said:
I want to win the race because my mom is sick.
The 2nd splinter will obviously win the race because this is necessity for him.
I will put all my money into the second splinter.
- For achieving any goal we should make it a necessity.
- For the field of necessity, giving high performance becomes very important to us.
- We start to take the action.
- We try to complete the thing anyhow and act that we have do it anyhow.
- Or else I will feel down by myself.
In this situation, we can get good feelings, when we can take action in necessity.
The action can get us to high performers.
Increase productivity
Average performers stay busy and think that he is working more.
- In reality, he cants accomplish his works.
- But high performers accomplish many works.
- He has time for his hobbies and for his family.
- The high performer knows the difference between important and unimportant work.
- He knows that from which work will get more output.
- And he gives maximum time on those work.
- The work from where he gets less output.
- He gives less time or doesn’t give any time.
Develop Influence
High performer influences other people life.
- High performers tell in what way you should start thinking.
- They says how can you improve?
Just think once if you have been influenced by anyone.
Those person may your parents, teacher or friend. He may be any person.
But they taught us:
- How to think about ourselves?
- And how to think of others?
- How to think about the world.
- If someone pushes us such that we can perform well.
- That is why we get influence from that person.
- The research proved that we can double our influence.
- If you help others before they ask for help from us.
Demonstrate Courage
Research has approved that, high performer always shows courage.
- When they find anything wrong, they don’t stay silent but they come forward and protest.
- Even when they found wrong with others, they also tell others.
- Courage doesn’t mean you are not feeling afraid.
- You will feel afraid, you will follow the truth.
2 things found in the high performer:
They don’t afraid of struggle.
and avergae performer:
Always complain about struggle.
- High performers know that if he wants to reach mount, Everest.
- He has to struggle.
- They know that for this he no need to complain.
- He started enjoying the struggle.
- From every small struggle, he gives a small message that like this he will overcome other struggles also.
- To overcome struggle is the sign of a high performer.
Conclusion
- From motivation, we can just start our work.
- We can complete the task daily when we make it a habit.
- You also have noticed that after reading some motivational articles.
- We anyhow start our work but after 2 hours you don’t know where your motivation goes.
- Lastly, we distract from our work.
- It happens because motivation is not the permanent solution but habit is.
- All habits are not equal some are good and some are bad.
- But few good habit will help you reach your goals.
